Judi Lamble, author of Captain M

Minneapolis, MN – HTF Publishing is pleased to announce that author, attorney, educator, and composer Judi Lamble has signed a publishing contract for her forthcoming historical novel, Captain M: A Novel of Exile, Rebirth, and Revenge.

Spanning four decades and inspired by the little-known history of Sephardic Jewish refugees in the seventeenth-century Atlantic world, CaptainM follows Miryam Asoze, a girl born aboard a refugee ship fleeing the Portuguese Inquisition. Forced from one refuge to another by war, religious persecution, and betrayal, Miryam grows into the enigmatic Captain M, commanding a sisterhood of female pirates while confronting the devastating personal costs of vengeance, love, and survival.

Combining meticulous historical research with sweeping adventure, Captain M explores themes of exile, identity, resilience, faith, and the enduring search for freedom. The novel shines a light on a remarkable yet often overlooked chapter of Jewish history, bringing to life the vibrant communities of Lisbon, Dutch Brazil, and the Caribbean during an era shaped by religious conflict and colonial expansion.

Lamble's fascination with history is matched by an accomplished and varied professional career. A graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, she practiced law in both legal aid and corporate settings, authored an unanimous 9-0 winning argument before the United States Supreme Court, and represented refugees seeking asylum. Her creative pursuits have been equally diverse, including composing award-winning Jewish choral music.

Today, Lamble teaches Communications to MBA and Master of Finance students at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai while continuing to research and write historical fiction. Her extensive international travels and lifelong interest in Jewish history have helped inform the rich cultural landscapes and historical authenticity found throughout M.

"Judi has uncovered a fascinating chapter of history that deserves a much wider audience," said Colin Mustful, founder and publisher of History Through Fiction. "What impressed us most was her ability to weave rigorous historical research with an unforgettable heroine whose courage, resilience, and determination carry readers across continents and oceans. M is both an epic historical adventure and a deeply human story."

Captain M will be published in paperback, hardcover, eBook and audiobook editions by HTF Publishing. Additional information, including the publication date, cover reveal, and pre-order details, will be announced at a later date.
