Meet Your Instructors

Colin Mustful is the founder of History Through Fiction. As a traditional publisher, he works with authors who want to share important historical stories with the world. He is also an indie author who writes about the tumultuous and complex periods of settler-colonialism and Native displacement in American history. He has an MA in history and an MFA in creative writing. He believes that learning history is vital to understanding our world today and finding just, long-lasting solutions for the future.

Melissa Makarewicz is the owner and founder of The Literary Assistant. Her business specializes in providing social media and newsletter marketing services to authors. She also runs a Patreon community where she offers additional support and resources to fellow writers. She enjoys spending time with family, which includes being a cat herder to her furry friends. She has a passion for history and loves to lose herself in reading. Helping authors succeed and achieve their goals is her ultimate mission.
