Introducing the New Historical Readers Club

At History Through Fiction, we’ve always believed in the power of stories to bring history to life and connect readers with the past. That’s why we’re thrilled to share some exciting news: we’ve combined our Member-only Content Area with the Historical Readers Club to create one central hub for all of our exclusive content.

Welcome to the new Historical Readers Club!

A Quick Look Back

We first launched our Member-only Content Area in 2022 with the publication of The Finishing by Bex Roden. Since then, members have enjoyed a new historical fiction short story on the first of every month—selected through our Duosuma submission platform and supported with a $30 honorarium for contributing authors. These stories remain exclusive to our members.

Over time, we expanded this space to include:

  • Replays of our What’s New in Historical Fiction panel series

  • Replays of one-day writing workshops

Earlier this year, we also launched the Historical Readers Club to feature exclusive content written by HTF authors, host virtual club meetings, and publish historical novel reviews by Peggy Kurkowski of The History Shelf.

One Club, All the Benefits

By bringing these two offerings together, we’ve created a single, streamlined member experience: The Historical Readers Club.

As a member, you’ll enjoy:

  • Monthly historical fiction short stories

  • Exclusive HTF author content

  • Book reviews by The History Shelf

  • Replays of panels and workshops

  • Virtual club meetings with other readers

Membership remains affordable at just $12 per year.

For the Dedicated Reader: Book Club Membership

Want even more ways to connect? Join our Book Club Membership for $24 per year. Along with everything above, you’ll gain access to our bi-monthly book club meetings, held on the first Monday of every odd-numbered month.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Six meetings per year discussing contemporary historical fiction

  • A private Facebook group where members can chat between meetings

  • A growing community of engaged historical fiction readers

Our first meeting will be held Monday, November 3, where we’ll dive into Erica Robuck’s novel The Last Assignment.

Join Us!

We’re excited about this next step in building a vibrant community for historical fiction lovers. Whether you’re a casual reader, an aspiring writer, or a lifelong fan of the genre, the Historical Readers Club is the place to discover new stories, revisit the past, and connect with others who share your passion.
